JOHANNESBURG - After more than two decades of court battles, Vodacom and 'Please Call Me' creator Nkosana Makate have finally connected.
The telecoms giant announced a settlement out of court, but did not disclose the settlement amount.
Its board has approved the agreement, saying it will be reflected in the company’s next set of financial results.
Both sides have withdrawn their legal actions, officially closing one of South Africa’s most high-profile corporate battles.
Makate came up with the 'Please Call Me' idea back in 2001, sparking a 20-year-long fight over fair compensation that went all the way to the Constitutional Court.
