JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Roads and Transport MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela is condemning intimidation, threats and extortion in the taxi industry.
She said there is no place for criminality in Gauteng’s public transport system and is warning that those involved will face the full might of the law.
The department said operating licences could be revoked where unlawful conduct is proven.
The MEC is urging taxi operators to resolve disputes through lawful industry structures.
Diale-Tlabela said government will work with law enforcement to restore stability and accountability.
