JOHANNESBURG - UK Trade Minister, Douglas Alexander, is currently in South Africa as the two countries work to reset their relationship.
Alexander is visiting both South Africa and Botswana.
Officials from both South Africa and the UK have acknowledged that the relationship has stagnated since the COVID-19 pandemic.
South Africa is Britain’s largest trading partner in Africa, and Britain ranks among the top five destinations for South African exports.
Trade between the two countries reached approximately 133 billion rand in 2023, though it saw a slight dip in the past year.
South Africa exports more than it imports, primarily selling metals, fruit, vegetables, and cars.
The UK Minister for Trade Policy, Douglas Alexander, discussed the way forward with eNCA.
