BETHAL - As the country undertakes its Just Energy Transition to green energy and a low-carbon economy, coal will remain part of South Africa’s energy mix.
That’s President Cyril Ramaphosa’s assurance.
He opened the Ummbila Emoyeni wind farm in Bethal, Mpumalanga.
The project is designed to move from a heavy reliance on coal to cleaner, green energy.
More than 1,000 jobs have been created for locals so far.
President Ramaphosa says the developments will help the country achieve a more reliable and, more importantly, affordable energy mix.
