Budget 2025 | Fiscal framework resubmitted to Cabinet

CAPE TOWN - Treasury has resubmitted its fiscal framework to Cabinet. 

It comes as the executive deadlocks over a revised budget. 

The initial budget was rejected due to a proposed VAT increase.

The budget speech was postponed to 12 March.

"All our budgets go through Cabinet so today we are going back to Cabinet and we will be presenting a new fiscal framework," said Treasury Director-General Duncan Pieterse.

"We don't know what the outcome of the discussion will be but we will take Cabinet's guidance into account and then work over the next two weeks to finalise the budget and table it on 12 March."
