CAPE TOWN - Cape Town’s container port has been ranked the worst-performing in the world.
A World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence placed it last out of 400 ports globally.
The ranking has reignited concerns about the impact of delays and inefficiencies on trade. Industry experts point to ageing infrastructure, crane capacity, weather disruptions and management problems.
The report found these are solvable problems with adequate investment. On the other hand, there is some positive news for Durban.
It's emerged as South Africa’s most improved port following repairs and equipment upgrades.
