JOHANNESBURG - The Transport Department has introduced new regulations for the e-hailing industry.
They cover operating licenses, vehicle registration, and safety measures for drivers and passengers.
It follows the August murder of an e-hailing driver outside Maponya mall in Soweto.
"The e-hailing service is now recognised as one of the public transport services," said Transport Department spokesperson Collen Msibi.
"So that is what we have been fighting for over these years because they have been regarded as illegal operators."
