Energy Action Plan | Flipping the switch on power monopoly

JOHANNESBURG - Electricity and Energy Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has announced updated regulatory rules governing network charges for third-party energy transportation.

Ramakgopa says the regulatory adjustments are vital to adapt to the rapidly changing electricity and energy landscape.

The revised regulations outline how private entities will be charged for transmitting electricitthrough the national grid. While the cost structure is yet to be finalised, the changes are aimed at fostering competition in the sector.

Consumers will no longer be solely dependent on Eskom for electricity supply, paving the way for greater choice and efficiency.
