JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is facing the threat of a jet fuel crunch with industry players once again warning that supplies are only secure until the first week of June.
Jet fuel was in focus at an aviation conference in Johannesburg today hosted by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
Jet fuel prices have more than doubled since the start of the Iran conflict putting airlines around the world under pressure.
They have cut around 13,000 flights globally while they focus on filling planes on busier routes.
And the first casualty has been reported with low cost airline in the US, Spirit, halting all flights.
It has begun what it calls an 'orderly wind-down of operations.
