JOHANNESBURG - The mid-month fuel outlook is looking increasingly bleak for motorists.
Petrol and diesel prices are pointing higher, raising the risk of another fuel hike in September.
Mid-month Central Energy Fund data shows petrol prices are set to rise by between 63 and 74 cents a litre, while diesel could increase by as much as R2.89 a litre.
The latest under-recoveries come as renewed conflict in the Middle East continues to put pressure on global oil markets and disrupt supply routes.
While a stronger rand has helped soften some of the impact, analysts say fuel prices remain heavily dependent on developments in the region.
With half the month still to go, the final adjustments may change, but for now, fuel hikes remain the most likely outcome.
