JOHANNESBURG - Petrol will increase by R1.43 cents per litre for both 93 and 95 octane in June, while diesel will drop by between R2.62 and R3.25 cents per litre on Wednesday.
Illuminating paraffin will also see a steep decline of nearly R6 a litre.
The Mineral and Petroleum Resources Department said higher Brent crude oil prices, driven by the Middle East War and supply disruptions, pushed up prices, but a slightly stronger rand helped cushion the blow.
The fuel levy relief announced by National Treasury has been reduced to R1.50 per litre for petrol and R1.96 per litre for diesel for June.
But at the same time, the slate levy has increased to R1.57 cents per litre due to a large accumulated deficit.
