Postbank cleared as FSCA financial service provider

JOHANNESBURG - Postbank has secured its Financial Services Provider license from the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.

This will allow the bank to offer regulated financial advice and intermediary services.

Deputy Minister Mondli Gungubele said the approval marks an important step in rebuilding Postbank into a sustainable, well-governed state-owned bank.

This is aimed at serving the unbanked and supporting government financial services.

While the license reflects compliance with strict governance and consumer protection, Postbank still awaits a full commercial banking license from the Reserve Bank.

To obtain and maintain an FSP license, strict regulatory requirements must be met.

The license will allow Postbank to expand its services nationwide.
