JOHANNESBURG - After the rand broke through the R17 to the dollar mark on Thursday for the first time in years, it could strengthen further.
Positive reaction to the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement and a potential upgrade to our credit rating are boosting sentiment.
"It looks like our rand is starting to compete," said Nicholas Pittaway from Sasfin.
"It's been most impressive over the last year when the rand has strengthened by 5.8 percent to the dollar, 2.9 percent to the pound, but unfortunately down 3 percent to the euro."
