Transnet welcomes arrest in major fuel theft crackdown

SASOLBURG - Transnet Pipelines has welcomed the arrest of an alleged fuel theft syndicate member linked to cases across multiple provinces.

The suspect was arrested in Emalahleni following an intelligence-led operation, involving the police and private security partners.

Authorities said equipment used for pipeline tampering and fuel theft was found on the property, along with vehicles linked to the crimes.

The accused has appeared in the Sasolburg magistrate’s court and remains in custody.

Transnet said the arrest is a significant step in protecting critical infrastructure, and warns that more could follow as investigations continue.
