US-SA relations | Godongwana blocked from G20 finance summit

PRETORIA - South Africa’s Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has been shut out from attending the G20 finance summit in Washington.

The United States reportedly refused to accredit him and other top officials, including Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago.

That move effectively blocks South Africa from participating in the G20 finance track this year.

The decision is linked to rising diplomatic tension between Pretoria and Washington.
