Brand SA banks on 'renewal' to attract investment to South Africa

JOHANNESBURG - Brand South Africa says the country is experiencing a period of renewal as it seeks to attract investment at the Investing in Africa Conference in London.

The organisation aims to position South Africa as a premier investment destination, despite geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices that are prompting many countries to focus more on domestic priorities.

Brand South Africa’s Advocate Cawekazi Mahlati says the conference is more than a talk shop, describing it as a deal-making platform for which the organisation has prepared extensively in the hope of securing investment.

Mahlati says South Africa is highlighting opportunities in fintech, infrastructure, energy and tourism.

Brand South Africa is also pointing to developments it believes strengthen the country’s investment case, including its removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s grey list, the end of rolling blackouts and a credit rating upgrade -- the country’s first in nearly two decades.
