Chicken prices fly through the roof

JOHANNESBURG - The ban of import of poultry from Brazil has had a negative impact not only on local meat processors but this has also affected the pocket of every person in the country.

Due to a bird flu outbreak in Brazil, importers are suddenly charging local meat processors 30% more for imported mechanically deboned chicken meat. 

Consumers could be expected to pay nearly R10 more per KG given the increase.
