CAPE TOWN - Infrastructure development in South Africa is a hot topic in Cape Town as the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium gets underway.
Key discussion points will be how to develop economic growth through Ports, Aviation and Logistics Corridors.
The symposium kicked off with a site visit to the Cape Flats Managed Aquifer Recharge project.
Delegates are meeting over the next two days to find ways to eradicate stumbling blocks hampering the maintenance and growth of infrastructure.
Ministers and Mayors from other African countries joined the delegation that visited the Cape Flats Managed Aquifer Recharge project in Cape Town's Pelican Park.
Once completed, the more than R1.3-billion project will play a crucial role in augmenting the Cape Flats Aquifer through the managed injection of treated wastewater.
Infrastructure development at municipal level as well as upgrading the country's roads, railways and ports also takes top priority.
