Aero Defence 2026 puts SA capabilities in global spotlight

PRETORIA - The 13th biennial Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition is under way at Air Force Base Waterkloof in Pretoria.

Hundreds of military delegates and members of the public are getting a closer look at the latest aerospace and defence technology on display.

The exhibition continues Sunday, with South Africans encouraged to attend on the final day.

Milkor’s Daniel du Plessis described the show as “phenomenal”.

"Our role here is, as diamond sponsor of the event and also a large supporter and contributor, to showcasing some of the defense industry and South Africa's defense industry's capabilities on a global stage.

"We form quite a close contingency as the South African defense industry being a fully private company, also in supporting their efforts in marketing their activities as well.

“I think there's a lot of good things that came from this as well. For us as a company, we had the opportunity to work with a lot of international companies and it's definitely something that we need to retain in the next edition as well.

“The air show is also phenomenal, it attracts a lot of the public as well and I want to encourage the people that missed out on this year's event, there's still some tickets for tomorrow and there will be again for 2028. Make an effort and make it, put it in your diaries that in September 2028 there will be a massive air show as well."
