Billionaire Jannie Mouton makes R7 billion bid to acquire Curro

JOHANNESBURG - South African billionaire Jannie Mouton is set to acquire Curro for R7.2 billion.

This as South Africa’s largest private school network, Curro Holdings, posted a resilient set of interim results for the first half of 2025.

Revenue rose nearly five percent to R2.7 billion, despite a slight drop in the number of pupils.

Earnings per share fell 36%, largely due to a R74 million land impairment, but recurring headline earnings edged higher.

Curro's balance sheet looks healthier as it refinanced R2.4 billion in debt on better terms.

CEO Cobus Loubser says the group remains focused on quality education and operational efficiency.
