Black November spending up as consumers benefit from lower costs

JOHANNESBURG - Lower inflation and lower interest rates put money back into the pockets of consumers.

And we now know what that meant for Black November.

According to Stats SA data, retail trade sales increased by 3.5 percent in November 2025.

That means the spending was higher than Black November in 2024.

Although it’s unclear what the change was on Black Friday specifically, retail in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and medical goods rose by 10 percent.
