Cashbuild testing higher-income waters

JOHANNESBURG - Cashbuild is testing the waters in a higher-income pool.

The retailer of building materials has bought three Amper Alles stores in Gauteng and Limpopo by acquiring a 60 percent stake in Allbuildco.

Cashbuild reported an 18 percent increase in headline earnings per share for the six months that ended in December.

It reported a revenue increase of 3 percent to R6.3-billion.

However, the CEO of Cashbuild, Werner de Jager, says DIY demand in South Africa has been weak.
