JOHANNESBURG - Chery is steadily strengthening its foothold in South Africa’s automotive market, while many competitors fight to stay afloat.
The Chinese automaker is preparing to expand its portfolio with a new premium SUV brand called Lepas.
Ahead of the debut in the next few months, Lepas is building a strong after‑sales support system by tapping into Chery Group’s existing infrastructure.
The brand says this established network will give it a powerful platform for premium customer service in South Africa.

The company is preparing to begin local vehicle production after acquiring Nissan’s manufacturing assets in Rosslyn, Pretoria.
It's a significant step in its long-term commitment to the South African market.
