JOHANNESBURG - The National Consumer Commission is concerned by the number of recalls by car makers.

Toyota, Volvo and VW have all recalled models of late, citing faults that could pose a danger to motorists.
The recalls including 159 VW Golf 8s sold between April and June with a defect in the front seat belt.
Volvo has recalled 26 XC90 plug in hybrid models for this year and more than 6000 motorists driving the Hino 500s available between May 2017 and December last year have been asked to return them to dealerships.
“The NCC has noted the recent rise of recalls of motor vehicles or related components of such motor vehicles and is engaging affected suppliers for further information to determine the required steps to address this.
"In the meantime, consumers with affected vehicles are urged to urgently book their vehicles with their nearest approved dealerships for a thorough vehicle check, at no cost”, said Acting Commissioner, Hardin Ratshisusu.
