Diesel heads to R40, petrol edges to record levels

JOHANNESBURG - The fuel price outlook is worsening and that's despite a ceasefire in the Middle East.

Diesel could climb sharply to near R40 a litre next month, while petrol edges closer to record levels.

Diesel is currently selling for close to  R28 per litre after government provided relief of R3 in levy reductions in April.

The data suggests that Diesel prices could rise by up to  R9.60 taking the price per litre to around R38.

If added to the current price for 95 unleaded petrol in Gauteng, it will cost R26.55 per litre.

That's very close to the record high of R26.74 that was recorded in July of 2022.
