Discovery Health CEO apologises for overpayment error

JOHANNESBURG - Discovery Health will cover a system error that led to an overpayment of claims last year.

Discovery Health’s CEO has taken full responsibility for a system error that led to overpayment of claims last year.

The error affected more than 16,000 members on the Comprehensive and Executive plans.

Many were asked to repay the money, but the scheme now says it will absorb the costs itself.

Discovery Health CEO Ron Whelan said, "We sincerely apologise to those Discovery members affected." 

Whelan reassured clients that the health scheme would do everything possible to prevent any future errors from occurring.
