JOHANNESBURG - Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana's highly anticipated budget, has been met with mixed reactions.
Most opposition parties describe it as uninspiring and lacking means to grow the economy.
Despite heated debates over a proposed 2 percentage point VAT hike, the Minister took a more measured approach, settling on a 0.5 percentage point increase.
According to economist at Economtrix, Dr Azar Jammine, the budget deficit has been increased from 4.4% to 4.6% GDP and the government has not budgeted for another year of social relief.
