JOHANNESBURG - Farmers are already facing diesel shortages due to the war on Iran.
AgriSA warns fuel rationing may be on the cards if there is no urgent action.
It said that while it's not a national crisis yet, the agriculture sector is panicking.
AgriSA is calling for more frequent fuel price adjustments.
Jolanda Andrag, AgriSA's COO says on the ground, they were seeing a large scale of rationing across the agriculture sector and unavailability of diesel across various regions.

"This is not a national supply crisis, it is a challenge that is rooted in market behaviour and and a combination of panic buying."
"We want to reduce any incentive for panic buy or any incentive for potently withhold stock within the value chain. Leave more frequent adjustments to price that would actually stablise the system and reduce any counter market behaviour that we are seeing that is leading to supply shortages in rural areas.”
