Food producers flag earnings decline

JOHANNESBURG -  Libstar expects earnings to decline in the first half of 2026, despite resilient performances across several of its core food categories.

The company owns brands such as Lancewood, Denny Mushrooms and Cape Herb & Spice.

It said weak performance at its Dickon Hall Foods division, as well as restructuring costs, have impacted performance.

The food producer expects headline earnings per share to fall by between 18% and 28% for the six months ended 30 June.

Earnings per share could decline by as much as 47.4%.

There's good news.

Food categories remain on track for growth, and a stronger second half is expected.

Results are scheduled for release on 8 September.
