JOHANNESBURG - Gautrain is stepping up competition in the e-hailing space, with plans to launch its own service, called Gau Express.
The service will enable commuters to request a branded Gautrain vehicle to take them to their final destination.
Gautrain Management Agency says the service is designed to close the gap for passengers who can’t wait for scheduled buses.

Gau Express will enter a shifting e-hailing market, following the introduction of new transport laws requiring platforms and drivers to be formally licensed.
The agency says future plans include adding e-bikes and scooters, but the immediate focus is getting the service up and running.
