JOHANNESBURG - It’s been a sluggish start to the year, with GDP growing by just 0.1-percent in the first quarter.
This marks a sharp slowdown from the 0.4-percent expansion recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Agriculture remained the strongest performer, while transport, finance, and trade also made positive contributions.
And as many economists had predicted, mining and manufacturing continued to struggle under sustained pressure.
