JOHANNESBURG - Manufacturing production fell by 1.5% in August 2025, compared to the same month last year.
The biggest declines came from the iron and steel, metal products, and food and beverages sectors.
However, monthly, production edged up by 0.4% in August following slight declines in June and July.
Meanwhile, manufacturing sales also showed positive growth, increasing 0.6 % in August compared to July, and 3 % over the last quarter.
Strong sales were reported in the food and beverages, chemicals, and motor vehicles sectors, signalling steady demand despite some production challenges.
