JOHANNESBURG - The latest manufacturing data is much weaker than expected.
Production from factories decreased by 4.3% in August compared to the same month last year.

Manufacturing production saw the sharpest month on month decline since 2024.
The biggest drops were in the production of petroleum and chemical products, motor vehicles and parts, and paper, publishing and printing materials.
However, the data did not impact on the rand after its release.
