JOHANNESBURG - Themba Matlou officially began his term as Sassa CEO on 1 June 2025.
He stepped into an agency facing a 62-percent vacancy rate and tight budget constraints.
Drawing on his 13 years at Sassa and public service experience, he aims to enhance customer service, bolster staffing, streamline operations, and enforce accountability.
As the agency ends its Postbank contract, Matlou has promised beneficiaries that grant payments will continue without disruption.
