JOHANNESBURG - The rising cost of living is making it harder for many South Africans to make ends meet.
From food and fuel to electricity bills, everyday expenses are putting household budgets under pressure.
This has left more consumers reliant on debt to get through the month.
DebtBusters' latest Money Stress Tracker shows that 53% of consumers now spend more than 40% of their take-home pay on debt repayments.
More than a third spend half or more of their income servicing debt, well above the recommended threshold.
The survey also found that financial stress has intensified, with concerns shifting from debt and interest rates to the rising cost of living.
