More tourist activity ups Sun International profits

JOHANNESBURG - Casino, gaming and hotel group Sun International cashed in on a rise in hotel stayovers and gambling.

Consumers have been travelling more after government lifted Covid-19-related lockdowns.

Tax profit more than doubled year on year to R765-million in its 2022 annual results

Net gaming wins -- which generates almost 80 percent of income -- improved 35 percent to R9-billiion.

For Sun International, the total cost of power outages amounted to between R12 and R14-million monthly in 2022.
