PRETORIA - The City of Tshwane says it's appealing the decision by the Salga Bargaining Council to dismiss its application to freeze salary increase this year.
The city had approached the council in August asking that it deviate from the 2021 Wage Collective Agreement- for only the current financial year citing financial difficulties.

In its ruling in favour of the workers, the council said the reasons put forward by the municipality are not sufficient for an exemption.
Workers union Samwu and Imatu opposed the application.
Had the exemption been granted, it would affected 29,000 workers employed by the city.
