NGO calls for immediate sugar tax implementation

JOHANNESBURG - An alliance of civil society and academic organisations is calling on the Finance Minister to implement the sugar tax immediately.

Heala has expressed disappointment, that the increases that were agreed to in 2018, will only be implemented in 2023.

Heala says the decision to postpone the health promotion levy, was the result of the sugar industry's interference and lobbying.
