JOHANNESBURG - The Ombudsman for Short-term Insurance says it's seen a rise in complaints over rejected claims related to power cuts.
Most short-term issuers say claims related to power cuts are increasing.
Dial Direct says its research shows that blackouts resulted in a 3.2-percent increase in burglaries and a 5.2-percent increase in vehicle accidents.
The ombudsman is now urging consumers to revisit their safety measures at home and become more familiar with the fine print of their insurance contracts.
