JOHANNESBURG - The recent uplifting of punitive tariffs on imported chicken by the International Trade Administration Commission has sent tongues wagging within the poultry industry.

However, Hume International says the reality is that South Africa's food supply chain is facing multiple crises that threaten consumers and the economy at large.

The organisation cites constant blackouts and droughts in certain parts of the country as challenges that cast a dark shadow on the poultry industry.
