JOHANNESBURG - The window period for relying on nuclear energy to address the issues of power cuts is gone.
The solution now lies in acceleration towards renewable energy.
This is according to economist and experts in fiscal policy Joseph Busha.
"We have to go the renewable route and we have to understand that the current generation fleet will continue giving us problems as long as it is a big part of our generation mix.
"Even if we have other sources of power as long as this current ageing fleet forms a big part of the generation mix we will have load shedding to a larger extent," he said.
