JOHANNESBURG - South African business leaders are feeling more positive.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s business confidence index climbed above 125 in July,
its highest in four months.
Business confidence kicked off the year above 130, a level not seen in recent years.
But the index plunged in April. SACCI says 124 marked the low point, and confidence is now rebounding.
July’s confidence levels also outpaced last year’s.
The Index reflects sentiment from business leaders across multiple sectors.
Higher new vehicle sales, stronger exports and lower energy prices helped lift confidence.
But higher inflation and falling precious metal prices have weighed negatively.
