SA emerges as global AI outsourcing hub

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is emerging as a global hub for AI outsourcing.

It could bring more jobs and investment as businesses race to adopt the technology.

South Africa ranks eighth globally and first in Africa in the 2026 Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index.

It is the only African country where more than half of businesses have adopted AI at the enterprise level.

The report said South Africa also stands out for its skilled workforce, ranking fifth globally for outsourcing talent.

And there's strong demand for that talent from companies in the US, UK and Australia.

However, researchers warn that keeping the lead will depend on producing more AI-skilled workers through education and training.
