SA's economic trouble | Pets not escaping inflation

JOHANNESBURG - Pet lovers are struggling with the increasing cost of living.

This has also affected the prices of dog and cat food, forcing them to dig deeper into their pockets.

In some cases, it gets so bad that they can no longer afford to keep them.

The NSPCA is urging people to rather give them up for adoption rather than letting them suffer.

"Rather than letting the animal suffer just call us. The NSPCA will always do their utmost best to find homes that are suitable," said Wrolien Rabie

"If you know you cannot look after yourself and the pet consider the adoption process.

"We know most people think of their pets as their kids. So call us and we will find a home that you would like your child to have gone back to."
