Sasol declares Force Majeure as a result of Transnet strike
JOHANNESBURG - Sasol has declared a Force Majeure despite the end of the Transnet strike.
The company says the mass action created backlogs and disrupted its value chains.
Production at plants in Secunda and Sasolburg have been impacted.
The Force Majeure applies to the local supply and export of certain chemicals.
This means they cannot be held liable for defaulting on contracts.
While port and rail activities have resumed, it's unclear how long it will take to clear backlogs.
