JOHANNESBURG - The latest crop estimates show the country's summer grain and oilseed harvest has been revised higher to 21.5 million tonnes.
Favourable La Niña and increased planting have helped boost production.
Maize harvest is expected to reach a record 17.4 million tonnes, and soybean production is also expected to hit a record high.

Economists say the massive harvest should push grain prices down and continue to support lower food inflation.
However, risks remain as the expected El Niño weather pattern next season, together with higher fuel and fertiliser costs linked to the Middle East war, could push food prices higher in 2027.
