JOHANNESBURG - The ports of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal and Coega in the Eastern Cape are among the top improvers in a global survey.
The survey is compiled by the World Bank and S&P Global, a financial information and analytics firm.
The Global Container Port Performance Index measures how much time a ship spends in port.
According to the survey, Durban and Coega were among those ports that improved their turnaround times in 2025 compared to 2024.
Freeport in the Bahamas, Port of Cristobal in Panama and Manzanillo in Mexico also showed improvement year on year.
However, the survey found that on average, vessels spent a longer time in port in 2025 than in 2024.
