JOHANNESBURG - Southern Sun says its full-year results have been boosted by recovery in tourism, and increased demand for events and conferences.
Occupancy at its hotels was at just over 50-percent in the past financial year, which ended on 31 March.
That is up from just over 30-percent the year before.
The group operates over 90 hotels and resorts under a number of brands.
Profit for the year was R741-million, a reversal of last year's R156 million loss.
Over the past year, Southern Sun spent R41-million rand on diesel for generators due to power cuts.
That is four times more than in the previous financial year.
