Transnet reaches wage deal with UNTU
JOHANNESBURG - Transnet workers belonging to the majority Untu union will be back at work on Tuesday.
The United National Transport Union has agreed to a three-year wage deal proposed by the CCMA.
The deal will see workers receive a six percent increase for year one and three, and a 5.5 percent hike in year two.
The agreement applies to all bargaining unit employees, including those who are not members of Untu.
Business bodies have said the strike had paralysed the ports and cost the country billions of rand since workers downed tools 12 days ago.
