JOHANNESBURG - Trouble is brewing at the Motus Group as the automotive giant faces a fresh legal showdown.
The Motor Industry Staff Association is preparing to go to the South Gauteng Court to seek an interim interdict to challenge the company’s retrenchment process and recent salary cuts.
Motus is pushing ahead with a retrenchment process that could affect 86 employees,
while another 540 employees face pay and benefit cuts.
The company says the move follows a one percent drop in 2025 revenue to R112,6‑billion, adding pressure to cut costs and restructure.
The union has declared a formal dispute, rejecting Motus’ reasons for the cutbacks.
